Are we… as a fan base… collectively… out on Nico?
I feel dirty asking that. I feel a little irresponsible even, as someone who loves the program.
But I can’t help but to continuously read the X replies saying as much.
If you’re unfamiliar with what we’re talking about here, today’s report is that our quarterback is in contract negotiations and it is “unclear” on whether he’ll enter the transfer portal.
“Let him walk.”
“Don’t let the door hit you on the way out.”
“Would we really miss him?”
Getting A LOT of the “let him walk” line. Do we really feel this way? Are we that pissed about NIL negotiating? Is it because the timing of this seems so bad?
There is some talk that this has just carried over from the December negotiations. Not sure why it has all resurfaced on April 10th but perhaps there will be more details.
If you ask me, in my own personal opinion, I still think we should try to get the negotiation worked out for him to stay at Tennessee, assuming there’s not an internal issue in the program.

On one hand, you don’t want the kid to have all the power and hang it over you and cause a locker room problem, worst case. It kinda feels like poor leadership given where we’re at on the calendar.
On the other hand, you don’t want your starting quarterback to leave in the middle of spring ball, do you?
It appears that not everyone feels the same way about it. Some people have had enough of this NIL shit. Some of the fan base is split.
Maybe we’re overreacting. Maybe we’re justified. One thing is for certain… the replies are mostly negative.
