The Vols take on the Commodores this afternoon at Memorial Gymnasium in Nashville. The game starts at 3:30 ET and will air on the SEC Network.

Vanderbilt is coming off a victory against South Carolina on Wednesday where a whopping 6,443 people attended the game in Nashville.

A three-point play with 0.6 seconds remaining by Devin McGlockton lifted the Commodores past the Gamecocks in a back and forth battle. The three leading scorers for Vanderbilt were McGlockton (11), Jason Edwards (13), and AJ Hoggard (14).

Local beat writers from Vanderbilt who have appeared on FanRun programming this week are not optimistic about their chances on the hardwood but that dang elevated court and small gymnasium has a tendency to have “memorial magic”.

Tennessee won their home game against Georgia on Wednesday where Jon Reed and I Voluntarily Reacted afterwards. Go check that out anywhere you get your podcast by searching “Fanrun Radio.”

An abysmal first half that was queued as “Cuonzo ball” by some was wiped away with a stellar second half led by Zakai Zeigler and Jahmai Mashack and their impeccable defense. Jordan Gainey led all scorers Wednesday with 19 points.

There are no cupcake games in the SEC this year but this is the closest thing the fans will be able to consider “a break” for a while. Mississippi St. comes to Knoxville on Tuesday and the Vols travel to Auburn in a week for a much anticipated match-up against the Tigers.

The one thing all Vol fans are looking for in this game is whether or not Chaz Lanier will get out of the shooting slump he has been in as of late going 2-of-18 over the previous two games from three-point range.
