It was March of 2023 and Tennessee had just fallen 6-7 to Boston College in an intense midweek contest.

Sophomore second baseman Christian Moore was readying himself for a media availability when he asked the group of reporters in the batting cages if their job was fun.

The reporters replied, “We get to talk to you!”

It turned out talking to a guy that would later become an All-American, national champion, and a rising star in pro baseball was pretty fun.

Leading Tennessee to its first national title was only part of Moore’s ongoing journey in the 2024 baseball season.

Weeks after being drafted by the Los Angeles Angels, Moore hit .545 with a double, triple, and home run in his 48 hours with the Inland Empire before advancing to AA.

Moore got off to a good start with a home run in his first game as a Rocket City Trash Panda. But that was just scratching the surface.

Moore’s second game in Huntsville started with a home run and a pair of hits Wednesday.

Tied at five runs apiece with the Birmingham Barons in the bottom of the ninth, Moore came in clutch with a walk-off blast to right field.

The question now is how long Moore will be in AA with the way he’s hitting the baseball.

The Chattanooga Lookouts have already made a big deal of their next home stand with the Trash Pandas to Tennessee fans. But at this rate, Moore could be in Salt Lake City by August 13.
