Kim Caldwell made a promise to her team if they reached the Sweet 16.

After implementing a system full of tough expectations, Caldwell hoped her team would live up to the bill and the Lady Vols did just that by advancing past Ohio State in the second round.

“I told them if we make it to the Sweet Sixteen, they can wear whatever shoes they want,” Caldwell said.

Sometimes it’s the simple things. Good strategy by Coach Kim. Look good, feel good, play good, as they say.

Caldwell must have had a certain standard for footwear throughout the regular season, because the ladies seemed to be excited near the end of the game.

“They were telling me that when there was still time on the clock,” Caldwell said in reference to the players bringing up what shoes they were going to wear.

It will be interesting to see what kicks the players decide to rock in the second weekend.

No. 5 Tennessee takes on top-seeded Texas with a trip to the Elite 8 on the line.

Saturday’s game will tip off at 3:30 p.m. ET on ABC.
