Jordan Gainey Explains All The Midrange Jumpers From Saturday

If you watched Tennessee’s game against Alabama on Saturday you probably noticed that Jordan Gainey had a nice game off the bench.
The senior guard had 18 points on 6-of-13 shooting in 29 minutes of action. He was also perfect from the free throw line.
You may too have noticed in watching Gainey how confident he was in shooting the midrange jumper.
Gainey was 5-for-7 from midrange against the Tide.
It’s nice to see a guy so willing to take that shot in an era of basketball where the math bros like Nate Oats want players to either jack up threes or go straight to the rim.
So why is Gainey so willing to take the midrange shot? It’s in his DNA. He’s been doing it forever.
“My dad always told me that was the best shot I had, and I’ve always repped it ever since I was a little kid,” Gainey said. “Being able to develop my game to where I can get to it different ways … being able to get to my spot raising up and shooting.”
