Fanrun Fantasy Football Fight Power Rankings: Week 6
By Tucker Harlin
The committee has spoken.
The Week 6 Fanrun Fantasy Football Fight power rankings saw a shift in the #1 spot as only one unbeaten remains in the league. The bottom of the league saw a slight shift as well with one team earning its first win of the year.
Here is how the committee ranked the league ahead of Week 6.
1. SAM BEARD (5-0)
Sam sits atop the Fanrun power rankings for the first time this season as his team is the only remaining unbeaten in the league.
All seven of Sam’s wide receivers have been productive all season, so putting Justin Jefferson on the bench for a bye this week shouldn’t be an issue. Roschon Johnson stepped up in a bye week for Tony Pollard at running back, so he ought to play just fine this week with both his starters in the lineup.
There is a concerning trend at quarterback as Tua Tagovailoa and Justin Herbert have missed time due to injury and Sam Darnold played poorly across the pond. Danny Dimes is getting the start this week.
Sam plays Jace this week, whose team is beginning to figure out its full potential in the middle portion of the season.
2. TUCKER HARLIN (4-1)
My team made it five weeks into the season before it lost a game, but my points for warrants the top spot among 4-1 teams in these rankings.
I’m beginning to wonder about Josh Allen at quarterback and Breece Hall as my top pick. I don’t know, maybe Robert Saleh’s firing will help boost Hall’s production.
I need more big weeks out of my receivers if I want to keep this pace up. I had consistent mediocrity all across the board last week with a high score of 14.7, which is less than the outcome of my tight end who has struggled at different points this season.
I desperately need Aaron Jones to use this bye week to get healthy. As of right now, Jones is one of my better middle round draft picks.
I’m going against Overtime Bill this week, which looked like a win three weeks ago but I can’t say that’s the case right now. Bill has put up high numbers each of the last two weeks.
3. RUSSELL SMITH (4-1)
Russell has overcome adversity with the injuries to Puka Nacua and Anthony Richardson and sits at 4-1 five weeks into the season.
Cam Akers filled in nicely while Saquon was on bye with the other two running backs. The receiver play of D.K. Metcalf and Zay Flowers is up and down, an issue that will resolve itself once Nacua reenters the lineup.
Russell has a difficult challenge ahead against a More Important Issues team that’s posted some of the best scores we’ve seen from week to week.
4. CODY MCCLURE (4-1)
The Varsity Athletes are bottom five in points for this season but somehow sit at 4-1.
Outside of using Kirk Cousins on Jalen Hurts’ bye week, none of Cody’s players had a true boom week in Week 5. David Montgomery is on Cody’s bench half the time and he’s the most productive running back on the team.
Cody desperately needs Malik Nabers back in order to give his receivers a pulse right now.
The Varsity Athletes might get the fifth win this week against Tim who has five players on bye in Week 6.
5. MORE IMPORTANT ISSUES (3-2)
Issues has been up and down all season, which creates a tricky matchup for any opponent.
Quarterback and tight end play are what you’d expect with C.J. Stroud and George Kittle, but there are growing issues (no pun intended) at receiver and running back.
Nico Collins is now on IR, but Issues has Tee Higgins on the bench to pair with the inconsistent Chris Olave. Chuba Hubbard’s starts are numbered with the probable return of Jonathan Brooks in the coming weeks, Bijan Robinson hasn’t played like a first round pick, and Najee Harris looks like the same guy who fooled fantasy players into drafting him last season.
MIssues plays Russell this week in a fight of upper half teams in the Fanrun Fantasy Football Fight.
6. JACE BROWN (3-2)
I was high on Jace’s team before the season started, and now Jace’s team is beginning to realize why I was so high on it to start the season.
He scored 153.32 with Jahmyr Gibbs on bye last week thanks a lot to heroics from Lamar Jackson and JaMarr Chase. D’Andre Swift finally showed a lot of life last week, and Wan’Dale Robinson contributed in the absence of Malik Nabers on the Giants.
Travis Kelce is on bye this week, so Jace will start Dallas Goedert at tight end.
Jace will face one of his toughest tests all season with current #1 Sam in Week 6.
7. TIM HILL (2-3)
Running backs are the strength of Tim’s team this season, and Jonathan Taylor’s injury hurt his shot at a win over Russell last week.
Patrick Mahomes has been middling all season, and Deebo Samuel's injury among other things has turned him into a disappointing pick. Fortunately for Peaches, the injury to Nico Collins provides an opportunity to start Tank Dell regularly.
Mahomes, Kyren Williams, and Colby Parkinson are all on bye for The Thrill this week, so a win over Cody is a cumbersome task.
8. BOB BASKERVILLE (2-3)
Bob’s bench has been a walking medical tent all season.
A.J. Brown, Rashee Rice, and T.J. Hockenson have all missed time for Bob in the first five weeks. Zack Moss and Khalil Shakir are both listed as questionable right now.
Joe Burrow has been the one steady piece for his team recently. You never know what you’ll get from Josh Jacobs, Brian Robinson Jr, Marvin Harrison Jr, or Javonte Williams.
Bob plays against his old showmate Jon this week, who picked up his first win last week.
9. WILLIAM PATTESON (1-4)
I hated Overtime Bill’s team at the start of the season, but I’m coming around on it after the last two weeks.
William drafted CeeDee first overall, but I’d argue the Falcons receivers and Jordan Addison have outplayed him at times in the first five weeks. Trevor Lawrence has picked it up in the last two weeks, and the duo of Rhamondre Stevenson and Kenneth Walker has worked in the backfield.
Addison is Bill’s only player on bye this week as he goes against Young Phillip Fulmer.
10. JON REED (1-4)
Jon’s receivers finally decided to play like the guys Jon drafted them as last week to take down Young Phillip Fulmer. His receivers won’t be at full strength for several more weeks until Cooper Kupp returns from injury.
Jon got the quarterback steal of the draft in Jayden Daniels and possibly a consistent scorer in the future in Chase Brown.
The Morning Show Classic will be played this weekend between Jon and Bob.
11. HOUSTON KRESS (1-4)
Running back injuries have decimated Houston’s team for the last four weeks. There is hope for Joe Mixon to return this week, but Isiah Pacheco has a few more weeks to go.
Amon-Ra St. Brown returns from his bye this week and Devonta Smith may return for the first time in two weeks, something that could offset the blow of running back injuries.
The Vol Rumor Mill faces Upper Management this weekend, a battle he desperately needs to win.
12. RYAN BROWN (0-5)
The blue medical tent is up for Christian McCaffrey, DeVon Achane, and Davante Adams on Ryan’s bench right now.
Brock Bowers and Justin Fields are the two best players Ryan has right now, not exactly a trustworthy pair of fantasy football starters.
Ryan plays Houston this week in a game he has to win in order to not drop his first six.
