Is Tennessee “different” this year?

On a recent podcast episode, a couple of ESPN guys you may have heard of had high praise for this year’s Vols basketball team.

Scott Van Pelt from SportsCenter first implied that Tennessee sometimes gives him pause, though he’s quite impressed by Chaz Lanier.

“Tennessee is the team in the SEC that worries me because they get involved in rock fights and then Chaz Lanier’s like ‘Hold my beer,’” Van Pelt said. “How about that show he put on Saturday in College Station?”

Van Pelt’s partner Stanford Steve was more complimentary of the Vols.

“I think they’re different this year. Because of him. And [Zakai] Zeigler is better offensively where he used to shy away and always pass when you needed him. He’s taking these shots now and they’re going in. I mean … a monster one in front of the bench.

“But I look at Tennessee as … Elevating them to … The teams that can win it line.”

A team that can win it all. Nice.
