Tennessee Basketball has a few of the best two-lineup combos by net rating in the SEC.

That is, according to a post from CBB Analytics which measures these kinds of things.

And most notably, our best two-player combo is Jordan Gainey and Chaz Lanier — according to the metrics.

Others mentioned in the graphic posted today on X include Gainey/Felix Okpara, Gainey/Zakai Zeigler, and Gainey/Igor Milicic.

Clearly the emphasis here is on Gainey. Interesting.

Is it too crazy to say that Gainey might be Tennessee’s best player?

Lanier seems to be the best scorer when he’s on.

Zeigler is the rock, of course. And a capable shooter at times.

But Gainey is pretty damn elite off the bench. And he’s efficient according to the metrics.

At the least I think it’s safe to say Gainey is our biggest X-factor.
