An Honest Review of Vol Lager

Yee-Haw Brewing Company

By Tucker Harlin

It’s been over three weeks since Yee-Haw Brewing announced the release of Vol Lager, and the beer is now available in stores around Knoxville.

In two weekends, Vol Lager will be sold throughout Neyland Stadium concessions stands for Tennessee fans to enjoy in the Vols’ home opener against Chattanooga.

I decided to put my investigative journalism skills to use to discover what Vol fans are getting into this fall in Neyland Stadium.

Here is my very honest review of Vol Lager.

SCORE: 7.2/10

I had been told before I sampled Vol Lager that it didn’t live up to the hype. However, one thing you have remember with beer is different people have different preferences.

I usually don’t opt for anything that isn’t a light beer, so I figured I would enjoy it.

But after sampling, I can’t say it’s like your average Coors or Miller Lite.

The first part of the taste is no different than ordinary light beer, which I enjoyed. Where it differs from a normal light beer is the hoppy finish.

The hops aren’t overbearing like they might be in an IPA or regular pale ale, but you can definitely taste them on the back end of a sip.

Overall, I can say I liked Vol Lager, but I definitely don’t hold it on a pedestal above other light beers.

Regardless of my meaningless opinion, I’m sure it will sell well in Neyland Stadium here in a couple of weeks.
