Graduate transfer quarterback Keller Chryst of Palo Alto, California has committed to Tennessee and head coach Jeremy Pruitt. Chryst arrives at a critical time for Pruitt and the Vols’ coaching staff as they try to establish competition and depth at a very thin quarterback position. Chryst previously played three seasons at Stanford starting 13 games and appearing in 23. He’s passed for 1901 yards, 19 touchdowns and six interceptions.
Chryst visited Tennessee last weekend and told GoVols247 after the visit that Tennessee had “everything that I’m looking for.” Chryst presents new offensive coordinator Tyson Helton a pro-style option for the Vols in 2018.
According to the 247Sports rankings Chryst was a four-star prospect and the no. 3 ranked pro-style quarterback in the 2014 class. As a graduate transfer he will be eligible to play for Tennessee this season and many believe he’ll immediately be right in the mix to start from day one.
Be sure to tune in to FOX Sports Knoxville tomorrow morning beginning at 7 a.m. for more on the story and commentary regarding Chryst and the Tennessee quarterbacks as the Vols head into spring practice.
