Bet the Farm is back. The NFL is back. The Patriots and Chiefs delivered one of the better opening night kickoffs that I can remember to get us started out on the right foot.
Kansas City looked poised to be the biggest threat to New England’s throne until Eric Berry suffered an Achilles injury. That’s a huge loss for their elite defense, and they may take a step back after it. Either way, the Patriots look beatable.
The first full Sunday of the season is sacred. Let’s make some money.
Los Angeles Rams -3.5 vs Indianapolis Colts
(Editor’s Note: the line has since moved to -4.5)
Andrew Luck is out. Vontae Davis is out. Ryan Kelly is out.
Those are three key pieces gone for a team that already wasn’t that good.
The Rams no longer have to deal with Jeff Fisher’s bad aura. Todd Gurley is healthy and ready. Sammy Watkins is the best receiver Jared Goff has played with. If the Rams can’t win this game by at least a touchdown, then Los Angeles needs to send them back to St. Louis.
(I still hate you, Jeff Fisher….. thanks for Corey Davis.)
New York Giants +4 at Dallas
Eli Manning in Jerry’s World:
5 wins and 3 losses. His three losses were by 5, 10 and 1. He’s thrown 18 touchdowns and 9 INTs.
The Giants added Brandon Marshall to held Odell. I don’t care if Ezekiel Elliot plays, because, like Ben McAdoo said, it doesn’t matter who plays running back if they’re running into a brick wall.
I love this defense. And if Odell doesn’t play because of his ankle, I’m sorry, but I’ll still take my chances.
Two Team Teaser: Houston +1/ Seattle +9
Houston is not losing to Jacksonville at home. The crowd will use this game as a chance to show the city’s strength in the wake of Hurricane Harvey. And JJ Watt is healthy. And he helped raise $27 million dollars for the city and will make some plays.
And Blake Bortles sucks.
Seattle is at Green Bay. Rodgers picked apart this defense the last time he played them at home, but that defense didn’t have Sheldon Richardson or was playing their first game without Earl Thomas.
I like both teams to cover their spreads, but getting the extra six points in my favor makes this extra tasty.
Let’s get this money.
