The Volunteers will put their eight-game win streak on the line today in what will be a Top-15 SEC Matchup in Athens. The No. 14 Tennessee Volunteers will face off against the No. 3 Georgia Bulldogs in the 50th matchup between these teams.
The Vols travel into Athens on an eight-game win streak dating back to last season, and have added wins in the 2020 season against South Carolina and Missouri. The Bulldogs also enter this brawl undefeated, having taken down Arkansas and Auburn so far.
It will be the 10th time that Tennessee and Georgia have squared off while both teams are undefeated.
Georgia’s offense has been slightly more productive in yards than Tennessee’s this year, but not in points. Georgia’s offense, led by quarterback Stetson Bennett IV, is averaging 415 yards and 32 PPG. Meanwhile, the Vols offensive unit and quarterback Jarrett Guarantano have accounted for 408 yards and 33 PPG.
On the defensive side of the ball, Georgia will use their fifth-ranked overall defense to try to slow down Tennessee’s bolstered run game. The Dawgs are only allowing 248 yards per game, and an absolutely pedestrian 8 PPG. For the Vols, the defense has been a bright spot, but will have to play the game of their lives to keep Tennessee in the game. Tennessee is allowing 361.5 yards and 19.5 PPG so far this season.
The Vols are an underdog in this game by a fairly large margin. The betting lines, according to MyBookie.ag, are as follows:
