Six players named in various mock drafts; would be most since 2010
Based on an average of seven mock drafts, Vol fans can expect Derek Barnett to be a top 15 pick in the 2017 NFL Draft. What they also might get to hear is a second name on that same Thursday night: Alvin Kamara.
I went through and collected the latest NFL Draft mocks from seven sources:
Barnett ranged anywhere from the 4th overall pick (Walter Football, PFF) to 31st (Kiper, Jr.). Kamara was named in just three of the drafts as most of these are first-round only, but he averaged a 40th-overall selection, which is early in the second round. It might be worth my time to note that Jalen Hurd is not projected as the 40th-overall selection.
Four other Vols are named in at least one of the seven mock drafts. Leading the remainder of the group is Jalen Reeves-Maybin and Cam Sutton, both of whom are expected to go anywhere from the third to sixth rounds. Josh Malone and Josh Dobbs were also named by Walter Football as late-round picks. Malone is projected as a fifth to seventh round selection; Dobbs sixth to no selection.
