Last night was a night that I will never forget! One minute, I’m watching the Nashville Predators in the Stanley Cup Final. The next minute, I am meeting 2-time NBA MVP Stephen Curry! It all started after the 2nd period of the Penguins-Predators game.
My friends and I wanted to grab some food, so we headed out to the local Wendy’s. We were in a hurry because we wanted to make it back to the house in time to catch the start of the 3rd period. Little did I know how this trip would change my life forever.
Divine intervention is what lead me inside that Wendy’s. I always go through the drive-thru, but God himself had different plans in store for us, because the driver’s side window on my ’01 Chevy Blazer (amazing vehicle, side bar) would not roll down. I know what you’re thinking. Crazy stuff, right? So at this point, we have to go inside.
Knoxville is so blessed…

Walking in the restaurant, my buddy Ryan (the guy in the fantastic Tennessee Titans shirt) asks, “What do you think will be the outcome for the Preds?” And just when I am about to respond, I look up to see a miracle of a sight: the real Steph Curry standing at the counter about to pick up his food. Without hesitation, I grab my phone and snapped the quick pic that you see above.
The fact that Curry would take time out of his busy schedule to meet with fans at a Wendy’s in Knoxville goes to show he is a down-to-earth kind of guy. With Game 3 of the NBA Finals right around the corner, it is truly refreshing to see a person of this caliber hanging out with the common folk.
Addressing the Critics
Some of you might be skeptical. I keep hearing people ask, “Why would Steph Curry be at the Wendy’s in South Knoxville?” To which I respond with, “Why is the sky blue? Why is the grass green?” Some things we will just never know the answer to.
It had to be Steph! Who else would be walking around Knoxville in a Steph Curry Warriors uniform wearing a Golden State themed toboggan and socks? Short answer: NOBODY! He even had two young kids with him! And you know what that means? Riley and Ryan Curry were there as well. Talk about a star-studded affair!
Please excuse my awkwardly phrased Snapchat. I was so excited to see the very real Steph in person that I just had to get the snap out right away.
UPDATE: Wendy’s Twitter account with the colossal burn.
