In what ended up being one of the best games of Week “whatever the hell this is” of this bizarre college football season, Tennessee went to the land of Hootie & the Blowfish and meme EDM hype songs and escaped with a 31-27 win over South Carolina.
It constantly felt like a game where Tennessee was totally going to “Tennessee” it, but somehow the Vols got the dub. It was also a great relief to see the Twitter timeline raging about Vols football. Nature truly is healing.
On the flip side of that Twitter coin, Gamecock fans were absolutely mad as hell online. Let’s take a look at some of the highlights. Here we go, Carolina fans, listen to your coach!

This dude won the Ratio Award of the night:
I hate Tennessee so much

This person is an Alabama fan but decided to tweet. Never tweet.
I hate Tennessee Vols. That’s the tweet

Is this stage 4 or 5 of the grief stages?
Play calling was good (better at least).
Hill was inconsistent but made some plays.
Secondary was bad.
Where is Dakereon?
Parker White is 👑.
I am sad.

A salt mine in the replies.
FINAL: South Carolina 27 | Tennessee 31
Back Oct. 3 at Florida.
— Gamecock Football (@GamecockFB) September 27, 2020
That was the most South Carolina way to lose a game I’ve ever seen lol
— J’Dinkalage Morgoone (@chaseowens96) September 27, 2020
People actually thought it would be different with Bobo 🤣🤣🤣 this is why we lose football games. Crappy head coach and an even worse athletic director
— CNB 🧢🇺🇸 (@CNB_TD) September 27, 2020
How long do we have to suffer through this shit?
— Zac (@ZacMurray21) September 27, 2020
I KNEW WE’D DO SOMETHING STUPID TO END IT
— Andrew (@anmatthews13) September 27, 2020
I’m tired of yalls bs
— USC (@RealUSC) September 27, 2020
That seals the deal. I am no longer a Gamecock fan. This team is a pure and utter embarrassment to the city of Columbia. I officially will not be renewing my tickets next season nor will I watch on tv ever again. I’m going to Vandy where they know how to run a football team.
— Chase Lantz (@chaselantz) September 27, 2020
1-9 at best. No discipline.

Hate it here pic.twitter.com/1LgC9JcqvZ

Long year? If you’re a Gamecock fan, it’s been a long life. Be thankful you’re not going 0-11 with Lou Holtz again.
So we're already booing our own team and it's only halftime of the very first game. It's gonna be a loooooong year. pic.twitter.com/dQo8BePA9e

OH, I FOUND THE BEST ONE!
Aaaaaand I’m screaming at the TV again

Stockholm Syndrome
People do realize if we fire muschamp we start over? Any kinds of positives in recruiting are gone and guys will transfer. You can say bye to gunner Stockton.
— jake goldman (@jgoldman1226) September 27, 2020
This is more like it
Fire Muschamp. He is not the guy for the job. Tennessee played horrible and still beat us.
— Tony Palmer (@TonyPal69811651) September 27, 2020
Uh oh
Is that you Muschamp?
I think I've found Will Muschamp's burner account 🤣🤣 pic.twitter.com/d6ckCMBol6
— W. Lee (@PickleInADonut) September 27, 2020
Hope (delusion?) springs eternal
Final Game Thoughts.. I'm a Muschamp guy and want to see him do well here. The ball literally didn't bounce his was last night. I'm cautiously optimistic based on the outcomes of other games yesterday that the season prediction of a .500+ season can still happen… #CB90
— Cocksby90 (@cocks_by_90) September 27, 2020
We could’ve had the Pirate, too, I get it
Sitting here with Muschamp when we could’ve had Mike Leach years ago.
He’s put in for every SEC opening for years while at WSU.
We refused to interview him smh
The only aggressive offensive coach we hired took us places we’ve never been.
So S Carolina to settle for CWM
— KenboSlicee (@KennyRamsey22) September 27, 2020
Well, rest easy, Gamecock fans. You only have a top-5 Florida team led by a potential Heisman Trophy winner at QB to deal with next week!
