Does Kirby Smart Know How To Play Cornhole?

The game of cornhole is a classic American pastime, especially when it comes to tailgating. Across the nation, millions of bean bags fly through the air weekly.

Cornhole is especially popular in the South. At any SEC tailgate, you can find a game going on about every ten feet. Some fans take cornhole very, very seriously.

However, one head coach recently embarrassed not only himself, but his school and the SEC in general in relation to cornhole. Georgia head coach Kirby Smart recently joined SEC Network’s Matt Stinchcomb in a matchup against sophomore QB Jacob Eason and TE Isaac Nauta. The quartet was set to play during the SEC Network’s spring Georgia feature when it all went wrong.

The second-year head coach showed off an admittedly “unorthodox” throwing style, pitching the bag overhanded. You can see an example of this crime against nature at the beginning of the video above.

This is a cardinal sin of cornhole. You simply do not pitch the bag overhand. You flip the bag underhanded, put some air under it, and hope it lands on the board. It is unfortunate, but after only one season at the helm, Kirby Smart has proven unfit for the task of coaching an SEC team. There is still time though, Kirby. Simply stop pretending to be Steph Curry every time you toss a bag, and maybe this can work.
