As many Tennessee fans have found out recently, basketball recruiting has got a lot more serious than in previous years.
After this last recruiting class (Jaden Springer, Keon Johnson, Corey Walker) the recruiting standard has risen. Enter Kennedy Chandler, a very notable name around the state of Tennessee and the No. 1 PG in the country. Chandler also is very close friends with highly-rated 5-star recruits like Palo Banchero and Harrison Ingram (Tennessee targets).
The majority of people who follow recruiting closely heard that Chandler is transferring from his current high school team in Memphis to a prep school in Kansas (Sunrise Christian). Some would say that’s not a great sign for the Vols but I would beg to differ, considering it gets him far away from Penny Hardaway.
Also, over the last few days a second crystal ball was put in Tennessee’s favor for Chandler to Knoxville, Lastly, Chandler’s father said that his son would be making a decision this upcoming fall.
I don’t know if people really know how big a Chandler commitment would be for Rick Barnes and company. I would consider Chandler a hard lean toward Tennessee considering his relationship with assistant Kim English and Barnes’ success on improving point guards.
So, Big Orange Nation, keep a close eye on this recruitment because if the Vols can land Chandler, then you’ll see a domino effect of other highly-rated recruits following him.
