Kaden Martin, son of 1998 National Championship winner Tee Martin, will not be following in his father’s footsteps.
The 2022 dual-sport athlete announced on Wednesday his decision to continue his sports career at the University of Miami.
“It’s been a long journey coming down to these four schools,” Martin said just moments before his announcement. Those four schools referenced were Miami, Tennessee, Arizona State, and Oregon.
Martin will be attending Miami to play baseball with the opportunity to play football as well.
The Knoxville Catholic product is ranked as a four-star quarterback recruit according to 247Sports and also is a standout baseball player.
Jeremy Pruitt and the Tennessee staff extended Martin a scholarship offer in February of 2020, according to 247.
Tee Martin, Kaden’s father, played quarterback at Tennessee from 1996 to 1999. Martin led the Vols to a BCS Championship win in the ’98 season.
Tee was previously on the Tennessee coaching staff from 2019 to 2020 as the wide receivers coach and passing game coordinator. He is currently the wide receivers coach for the Baltimore Ravens.
Kaden Martin is the third quarterback recruit in the last week that had Tennessee listed among their final teams but chose elsewhere during their official announcement.
