Committing to the Vols with all intentions of working on his craft under center, Jauan Jennings followed up Spring camp, and a minor off-the-field issue, displaying promise at wideout.
And though it is very early in camp, veterans at the position are even beginning to take notice of the talented in-state product.
“When he was called on by coach, he knew all of his plays. He’s catching on real quick. He was a quarterback before, and as a QB, you have to learn that stuff quick. It’s exciting that came and knew his stuff,” redshirt junior Jason Croom stated following Tuesday’s opening day of camp.
Butch Jones was impressed with multiple freshman over the first two days of camp, but spoke highly of Jennings transition to the wide receiver position.
“I’m excited about Jauan. You know, he’s kind of been sipping through a fire hose right now at the wide receiver position, but I see an individual who is a very, very gifted athlete. He is very, very competitive, has very good hands and loves to compete.”
Remember. This kid was taking snaps under center a few months ago in the spring game and showed promise.
Leads me to believe that this high praise, from a coach who demands so much from his players, is not just lip service.
