Fan favorite and former Tennessee star wide receiver Jauan Jennings became the second rookie to sign his rookie deal for the San Francisco 49ers on Wednesday. The 7th round NFL Draft pick joined offensive lineman Colton McKivitz as the only rookies to sign their rookie deals so far for the 49ers.
Jennings received a four-year rookie deal that is worth $3,406,024. The deal also includes a guaranteed signing bonus worth $111,024 and a base salary of $610,000.
The Murfreesboro native had 59 catches for 969 yards and eight touchdowns last season for the Big Orange. Jennings was also selected as team MVP and captain in the 2019 campaign for the Vols.
Jennings finished his career ranked fifth in Tennessee history in receptions (146), fourth in receiving yards (2,153), and fifth in touchdown receptions (18). “The Dog” slid in the NFL Draft due to his 4.72 40-yard dash and his poor performance in the NFL Scouting Combine.
But as most of Vol fans know, Jennings will become of the biggest steals in the draft and will be a reliable wideout for the 49ers for years to come.
Congrats to Jauan!
