Hudson Wolfe: What The Nation’s #1 TE Can Add To Tennessee’s Offense

Jeremy Pruitt & Co. added yet another 4-Star recruit in Hudson Wolfe on Monday morning. The No. 1 ranked TE is the Vols highest rated in-state commitment.

Wolfe joined Rivals.com via live stream to make his commitment at 11:05 am ET Monday morning.

The Nation’s No. 1 TE picked Tennessee over Ohio State, Alabama, and Ole Miss. The Savannah, TN native, also held offers from 21 other schools in addition to the four aforementioned, including Georgia, Florida, and Auburn.

Hudson Wolfe weighs in at 240lbs and is 6 foot 6 inches tall.

The Hardin County High School product is tabbed as the No. 40 player in the nation by Rivals.com. This ranking places him as the No. 1 TE in the country and the No. 1 player in the state of Tennessee.

On 247Sports.com, Wolfe is labeled as the No. 225 player in the country. This ranking slots him as the No. 9 TE in the country and the No. 6 player in the state of Tennessee.

He is rated as a 4-Star recruit on both sites.

The Nation’s No. 1 tight end has an absolutely scintillating highlight tape.

Hudson Wolfe’s film features a great combination of run-blocking and pass-catching.

Wolfe is ferocious at the point of attack while blocking and finishes all of his blocks through the echo of the whistle.

He can also be seen lining up in the slot or as the H-Back (which the Vols love to utilize in the run game).

In the passing game, Wolfe has a very quick release off the line of scrimmage and is exceptional at finding holes in zone defenses to sit down in. His run after the catch ability is also impressive as he continually strives for more yardage.

The newest Tennessee commitment is also no stranger to spectacular diving catches, as you can see on the highlight tape.

Comparing an upcoming high school senior to a grown man is always a tall task, but I’ll give this one my best shot.

Former Vol Comparison: Ethan Wolf

Ethan Wolf was a serviceable tight end for the Vols with nearly 1000 career receiving yards from 2014-2017. Both Wolf and Wolfe have very similar high school frames with nearly identical play styles. For example, each player excels at running the streak route from the tight end position, and is arguably each players best route. However, I do believe that Hudson Wolfe has remarkably more upside than Ethan Wolf coming out of high school.

Current NFL Comparison: TB Buccaneer Cameron Brate

Brate and Wolfe share many similar characteristics in the passing and running games. Both players perform well in RAC (run after the catch) situations, while also being great assets in the red zone. Each individual is equally as dedicated to the run game as they both take great pride in finishing their blocks.
