This week has been all about Tennessee QB Jarrett Guarantano after the meltdown loss to Georgia this past weekend. Rightfully so, some of the blame falls on 5th year senior but it’s a new week!
On Monday head coach Jeremy Pruitt said that JG was his quarterback moving forward. This week is the Battle of the Border States as Tennessee takes on the kitty cats of Kentucky. As many call Lamonte Turner the Wildcat Killer for all his game winners, we should give Guarantano the same title.
In all of his games against the Wildcats, his stats have looked like Peyton Manning. He has thrown for 554 yards on 37-of-51 pass attempts and four touchdowns. Guarantano is Kentucky’s Kryptonite. I don’t think this weekend will be no different either.
Despite his poor performance in the second half against Georgia, JG has been a really good game management quarterback and will control the game against a very inconsistent Wildcat secondary. For this weekend, don’t lose hope in Guarantano because Kentucky can’t stop him.
Plus it’s what Tennessee does: we beat Kentucky. Before all the couch coaches go crazy, facts are facts that JG plays out of his mind against inferior opponents like Kentucky. He should play well against this Kentucky team because before the Wildcats played Mississippi State, they ranked dead LAST in the country in the secondary.
So, on Saturday when you’re watching the noon kickoff against KenSucky just remember you’ll see the ‘Wildcat Killer’ behind center so losing shouldn’t happen.
