The photo of a shotgun and shells on a bed was posted along with the caption, “When you’re a bully victim & a coward, your options are suicide, or revenge.” The hashtags on the gun are his former team, the Miami Dolphins, and Harvard-Westlake, the high school in Los Angeles that Martin graduated from in 2008.
As a precaution, the school shut down both of its campuses for the day.
Tagged in the photo are James Dunleavy and T.J. Taylor, who apparently also attended Harvard-Westlake, and former Dolphins teammates Richie Incognito and Mike Pouncey.
Martin played for the Dolphins from 2012-13 and was part of the infamous Dolphins bullying scandal, in which NFL investigator Ted Wells claimed Martin was, “subjected to a pattern of harassment” from teammates and team personnel that included racial slurs and sexual taunts about his family.
Martin had previously been hospitalized for “emotional distress” and in a 2015 New York Times article, claimed he had attempted suicide during his career.
