The five-star weakside defensive end from Roanoke, Ala. announced his commitment to the Vols on Sunday afternoon. Jeremy Pruitt and his staff were able to beat out the likes of in-state teams in Auburn and Alabama. Even Florida and Georgia were in the mix.

Brooks is a 6-5, 220-pound defensive end that will put on some mass once he gets in the strength program at Tennessee. According to 247Sports, he’s currently ranked as the 18th best player in the 2021 recruiting class. He’s ranked as the No. 1 WDE and top player in the state of Alabama.
With Brooks’ commitment, Tennessee now has 11 commits for the 2021 class. The class ranks 13th in the nation and third in the SEC at the moment.
This is huge news for the Vols. Not only because of his athleticism and speed, but also because they beat out Alabama.
Tennessee has really struggled to recruit in Alabama for a number of years. However, with Pruitt at the helm, he’s landed a number of recruits from the state of Alabama.
There have been multiple occasions of beating out Gus Malzahn for recruits.
Brooks will bring along a lot of speed at his position. He is a very explosive guy coming off the edge.
Tennessee had been in the running for Brooks, as he had visited numerous times last season, during the Georgia State, Georgia, and Vanderbilt games, but still came away impressed.
Tennessee really trended earlier today when the Vols got six Crystal Ball picks, and the domino fell once he committed on Sunday afternoon. Landing him is huge news for the Vols and could potentially lead to more players from the state of Alabama committing to the Vols program.
