Seven months and 19 days ago, Brant Lawless made the decision to commit to Tennessee. Lawless is a Nashville native and high school teammate of Daniel Bituli. This seemed like a no-brainer. Even after all of Tennessee’s turmoil, he stayed loyal and signed with the Vols on Wednesday.
The 6-foot-3, 285-pound defensive tackle is the 255th ranked player in the country, per 247Sports’s Composite Rankings. Lawless racked up 38 tackles, 14.5 for loss, in addition to two sacks and three fumble recoveries during his senior year.
It is clear that he has a nose for the ball and is a strong, athletic presence in the middle of the defensive line. Go ahead and skip to 0:40 of this video if you want to see him chase down a quarterback in the open field.

With that kind of raw athletic ability, look for Tracy Rocker to develop Lawless into a space-eating monster in the middle. Especially if the “law firm” of Lawless, Litaker and Emerson get to take the field together.
