Football season and fight night. Here we go…
Hawaii +2 @ UMass (-105)
Hawaii started as a one-point favorite on this game, but the odds have switched in favor of Massachusetts. Most of that comes from a concern about Hawaii’s 5,014-mile trip to Amherst.
These two teams coincidentally ended last season against each other. So that means they’ll be playing back-to-back games against one another. Hawaii won in Honolulu 46-40 last November.
South Florida vs. San Jose State UNDER 69.0 (-115) (nice)
South Florida enters off a big bowl win over South Carolina and with Charlie Strong, the guy who should make it work and be the next superstar but never seems to. He’s essentially Paul Ryan.
San Jose State entered fall camp with six quarterbacks going after the starting role. SIX QUARTERBACKS. It’s worth noting that their offensive line has more starts than any other unit in FBS. But SIX QUARTERBACKS doesn’t reek of a focused offense. They also have no tailbacks of note.
Conor McGregor by KO/TKO or DQ (+415)
Compare this to McGregor’s general odds +325 because if you want to take McGregor, understand that he’s not about to win in a 12-round decision against Floyd. For reference, McGregor by any decision is +3150. So it’s unlikely.
McGregor’s best shot is landing a lucky left that puts Floyd $ Mayweather to sleep. If the upset happens, it’s coming by stoppage.
Mayweather by Unanimous Decision at (+305)
If you think this goes all 12 rounds, take that at 3:1 and then jump on this because if the fight goes to decision, Floyd $ wins unanimously for all above mentioned reasons.
It’s not lost on anybody that they’re playing Floyd’s game here. Conor has never been knocked out, Floyd will be more aggressive than usual, but still defense first.
These seem like the only two possible outcomes: Conor by KO/TKO/DQ or Mayweather by unanimous decision.
Fascinating Fight Info
Comes from Micah Roberts of VegasInsider.com
“The average wager on McGregor is $131. The average wager on Mayweather is $5,100.
Something to remember before wagering about Floyd Mayweather is that the sports books have never lost with him. They go into every Mayweather fight needing him because the general public doesn’t want to lay his -700 prices and would rather take the ‘dog instead. He’s a cash-making machine for the Las Vegas books. No fighter has given more to the books than Mayweather.
And know this, if McGregor actually does win, it will be the sports books biggest single loss in Las Vegas boxing history. The approved 8 oz. gloves both will use would appear to be an edge for McGregor.”
