Keep in mind that Michigan’s starting quarterback was so bad that they pulled him in the first half of the first game of the year. Wilton Speight has now thrown six interceptions in his last four games. The point is, even if Michigan goes up big, their now-second-string quarterback isn’t the world’s best.
Further, Michigan owned ten minutes more of that game than Florida and out earned the Gators 433 yards to 192. With utter dominance they still kicked four field goals and looked lost in the red zone.
Confident:
Arkansas +3 vs. TCU
The week started with Arkansas as a one=point favorite. Now it’s switched to TCU favored by a field goal on the road. The Razorbacks impressed the hell out of me Week One with 42 unanswered points. I don’t care who you’re playing, 6-6 in the red zone is impressive.
Northwestern -3.5 at Duke
Approach this game with caution. This is a low-key solid matchup between two well coached teams. Pat Fitzgerald and David Cutcliffe have a combined 60-44 record over the last five years. That’s not great until you consider both teams play in a surging B1G and ACC in that time.
BYU +2 vs. Utah
Another game where the favorite switched. Utah started as the underdog. BYU is a team that’s yet to actually look totally competent for an entire game. This week they will.
Let it Ride:
Louisiana Tech +8 vs. Mississippi State
Ok so Louisiana Tech is supposed to have a promising year. But if an eight-point spread isn’t an indictment of an SEC program, I’m not sure what is.
Pitt +21 at Penn State
Rivalry game where Penn State will be far overvalued after a strong week one performance. Yes they’ve got the athletes on that team to make the College Football Playoff. But how many times have you seen that team start looking ahead on the schedule after Week One?
NC State -24.5 vs. Marshall
Actually, NC State’s offense wasn’t a problem at all last week. It was the defense. I’m not adverse to pairing with over 55.0, either.
MTSU +10 at Syracuse
Alas, I am betting against my alma mater. But only because I know them too well. One fascinating story here, Syracuse’s old coach Scott Shafer is now MTSU’s defensive coordinator. His defense was not good.
If You’re Hard Up For Entertainment
Nebraska +13.5 @ Oregon
Toledo -9.5 at Nevada
New Mexico -7 vs. New Mexico State
Ball State -14.5 vs. UAB
