Former Vols head coach Phillip Fulmer may only have been named the athletic director around four and a half months ago, but he’s been doing so well that he has been given a contract extension for the AD job. The deal is a four year extension where he will net $900,000 a year and a $100,000 bonus at the end of every year he stays the Tennessee athletic director.
Since being hired as the athletic director back in December, Fulmer has hired new head football coach Jeremy Pruitt, the men’s basketball team finished as co-SEC champions, and the women’s softball team is currently ranked 7th in the nation. While we haven’t seen what Pruitt can do as a head coach quite yet, there is a lot of optimism.
With baseball and football having first-year coaches combined with the men’s basketball coach coming off of a conference championship, it would appear as if Fulmer should have the stability so many have craved.
Fulmer is beloved by all of Vol Nation and this extension has since been received very well by Tennessee fans. Expectations are high and the sky’s the limit on what Fulmer can do for the University of Tennessee’s athletics.
