January

Jan. 2– The Tennessee Volunteers defeat the Indiana Hoosiers by a score of 23-22 in the Taxslayer Gator Bowl, officially beginning the 2020 off-season.

Jan. 3– David Johnson hired as running backs coach on Mike Norvell’s staff at Florida State. Johnson spent two years on Pruitt’s staff, beginning as the wide receivers coach in 2018 before moving to the running backs coach the following year.

Jan. 8– Former Georgia OL and Knoxville native Cade Mays officially announces transfer to the University of Tennessee.

Jan. 9– Tennessee OL Trey Smith holds a press conference to announce he will be returning to Tennessee for his senior season.

Jan. 21– Tennessee early enrollee Harrison Bailey receives his 5th Star from Rivals.

Jan. 25– Vols linebackers coach Kevin Sherrer is announced to be joining Joe Judge’s New York Giants coaching staff.

Jan. 28– Tennessee announces the hiring of running backs coach Jay Graham from Texas A&M. Graham had previously held this role before for Tennessee in 2012 but has been with South Carolina and Texas A&M since then.
