NCAAM: Tennessee Tumbles in Forth Worth, 75-63

FORT WORTH, Texas – Second half woes continued for the men in orange Saturday as the Volunteers were unable to maintain a 14-point halftime lead, falling to TCU 75-63.

The second 20 minutes began with a 10-0 run by TCU (10-11, 1-7) after taking advantage of two Tennessee turnovers. In just over two minutes of play, the once 41-27 Vols’ halftime lead was cut to a four-point advantage.

Trent Johnson’s TCU club went on to outscore Tennessee 48-22 in the second half – adding a tally on their side of the Big12/SEC Challenge.

The Horned Frogs were lead by a quartet of players with Malique Trent dropping 15 to go along with 14 from Parrish and Washburn. Karviar Sheperd added 13, as well.

Tennessee (10-10, 3-5) was 0/15 from beyond the arc in the second half after a 50% (8/16) performance in the first 20 minutes.

The Vols finished the game 33% from the field and 26% from beyond the arc.

Kevin Punter Jr notched another 20-point game in Forth Worth, his 14th of the season. The senior guard finished with 24 points (9/19 FG, 3/11 3FG), three rebounds and three assists.

Career-Highs for Alexander

Kyle Alexander played 31 minutes against TCU, collected 11 rebounds and blocked six shots.


The Volunteers next contest is Tuesday, February 2 at 7:00 p.m ET inside Thompson-Boling Arena against Kentucky (16-4, 6-2) with game coverage on ESPN.
